Two Charged Possession & Assault with a Weapon

Last night at approx. 11:00 pm city police were called to a west end address regarding a male person being shot with a pellet gun. As a result a 19-year-old male and a 15-year-old youth were arrested and each was charged with one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and two counts of assault with a weapon. It is alleged that the two accused were shooting their pellet rifle, from a residence, at the victim and his son. The complainant reports that the two accused fired several shots at his son and him before he was struck by one of the pellets. The 15-year-old male will be appearing in court on Feb. 26th at 9:30 am. The 19-year-old male, Leslie McLeod of 654 Portage Lane, Apt. # 2 will be appearing in court on Feb 25th at 9:00 am. City police seized the weapon and pellets. The victim, a 43-year-old male, was struck by one pellet and suffered a minor injury to his arm. The victim did not require medical attention.

Disqualified Driver

Yesterday afternoon city police stopped a vehicle on Wellington St.W. which was being operated with improper licence plates. Upon speaking to the driver the officers determined that he was a disqualified driver. As a result
Robert Larocque, age 48 of 564 Wellington St.W. was arrested and charged with one count of drive while disqualified. He will be appearing in court on Feb 25th at 9:00 am.

Stolen Plates

On Wednesday Jan 16th city police stopped a vehicle being operated on York St. with licence plates not issued to that vehicle. It is alleged that the driver, Shane Simpson was operating the vehicle with stolen plates. As a result Shane Simpson, age 38, of 32 Blutcher St. is charged with one count of possession of stolen property. He will be appearing in court on Feb 25th at 9:00 am.

Shoplifting from No Frills

Last night at approx. 8:00 pm city police were called to Joe’s No Frills on Korah Rd. regarding a shoplifter. Upon arrival officers were informed by the store loss prevention officer that a 45-year-old female had been arrested for theft. It is alleged that the accused entered the store, selected a tube of medication and left the store without paying for the item. Charged with one count of theft under $ 5,000.00 is Lynn McKenna, age 45, of
587 Second Line W. She will be appearing in court on Feb 25th at 9:00 am.
