Domestic Related Arrest Officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 46 year-old male at 10:37 pm last night and charged him with one count of assault and one count of threaten death or bodily harm.

Officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 46 year-old male at 10:37 pm last night and charged him with one count of assault and one count of threaten death or bodily harm. It is alleged that on the 13th of January the accused got into a verbal argument with his common law spouse at their residence and he assaulted her and threatened to kill her. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.

Shoplifting Arrests
Officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested 39 year-old Scott Erdman of 553 Queen Street West (upper apt.) on the 13th of January at 10:28 am on Wellington Street West and charged him with two counts of theft under $5,000. It is alleged that on the 13th of January 10:15 pm the accused stole a number of items that he had put inside a recycle grocery bag from Zellers on Northern Avenue and fled on foot. A witness assisted the police in locating the accused that was found a short time later on Wellington Street West in possession of the stolen items. The accused was also wanted for a shoplifting incident at the Station Mall IDA Pharmacy that occurred on the 3rd of January. He is to appear in court on the 21st of February.

A 17 year-old female youth was arrested by officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service yesterday at 1:55 pm at Zellers at the Station Mall and charged with one count of theft under $5,000. It is alleged that on the 13th of January at approximately 1:00 pm the accused stole some items from Zellers in the Station Mall. She was apprehended by store security and held for police. She is to attend in court on the 15th of February.

Two Motor Vehicle Collisions with Injuries
Officers attended at a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Second Line West and Farwell Terrace yesterday at 4:19 pm that sent one involved to the hospital by ambulance for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. It is alleged that the driver of a Pontiac car travelling eastbound on Second Line West failed to stop for the red light at Farewell Terrace and struck a Buick vehicle that had been proceeding northbound on Farwell Terrance. The 73 year-old driver of the Buick was the driver injured and the driver of the Pontiac, 24 year-old Marie Ruggles of 430 Devon Road, was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with one count of failing to stop for the red light. Both vehicles were heavily damaged.

Officers attended at a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Gore Street and Albert Street East yesterday morning at 10:19 am that involved one driver being transported to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. It is alleged that the driver of a Ford pickup travelling northbound on Gore Street failed to stop for the red light at Albert Street and struck a Dodge van that was eastbound on Albert Street East. The driver of the van was the injured party. The driver of the Ford Pickup, 38 year-old Mulet Gonzalez of 942 Frontenac Street was charged with one count of fail to stop for red light under the Highway Traffic Act. Both vehicles were moderately damaged.

Break and Enter Reports
• A residence in the 200 block of Huron Street was entered Wednesday evening overnight. Prescription medication and liquor was reported taken.
• A homeowner on Bay Street found a male youth inside his apartment around 11:29 pm last evening. The youth fled when police were called. Medication was reported stolen. The youth was described as 17 years of age, 135 lbs, 5’6”, black hair, wearing a dark leather jacket. Officers searched the area with negative results.
• An attempt break and enter was reported to a residence in the 800 block of Wellington Street East.

Theft Reports
On the 13th of January a female reported to police that she was walking westbound in the laneway behind the city bus station on Tancred Street when a male ran up behind her, stole her prescription medications from her hand and ran southbound towards Queen Street. He was described has a white male, tall and was wearing a black jacket.
