The following two persons will be appearing in bail court this morning:

1) 28 year-old Julie Shaw of no fixed address was arrested on the 11th of January at 2:05 am on Parliament Street on several outstanding warrants and charged with four counts of failing to appear in court on three occasions in 2007 and one in 2006 in relation to an impaired driving and consume over the legal limit charge, a fraud charge, and two breach of release document charges.

2) A 37 year-old male was arrested on the 10th of January at 9 pm at his east end residence and charged with one count of assault and one count of threaten death or bodily harm. It is alleged that on the 10th of January at 8:30 pm the accused got into a verbal argument with his common law partner at their residence and assaulted her by grabbing her by the hair and pushing her into a wall. The accused also threatened to slit the victim’s throat. There were no injuries reported to the victim.

Assault with a Weapon

A 21 year-old female was arrested on the 10th of January at 7:25 pm on Queen Street East and charged with one count of assault with a weapon. It is alleged that on the 10th of January around 7 pm the accused got into a verbal argument with her ex-boyfriend in the parking lot of a downtown bar and threw a set of keys at him, striking him in the face area. The victim received injuries that did not require any medical attention.
The accused is to appear in court on the 13th of February.

Impaired Driving

24 year-old Michael Kalagian of #101-614 Macdonald Avenue was arrested on the 11th of January at 2:18 am on Wellington Street East and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of fail to provide breath or blood sample. It is alleged that on the 11th of January at around 2:15 am patrol officers observed a Honda car northbound on Hugill Street travelling in the southbound lane at a high rate of speed. The vehicle failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of Wellington Street East, skidded across Wellington Street into a snow bank, leaving the roadway and coming to rest in the front yard of a residence. Officers approached the vehicle and discovered that the driver, the accused, was under the influence of alcohol. When he was brought to the station for the breath test, the accused refused to provide a breath sample. No injuries were reported. He is to appear in court on the 25th of February.

One Break & Enter

The only break and enter reported yesterday was to a residence on Queen Street East that occurred sometime between 8 pm on the 9th of January and 11 am on the 10th of January.
