Male Arrested on Outstanding Warrants

55 year-old Terrance Smith was arrested on the 25th February at 9:20 pm on Albert Street East and charged with one count of fail to appear court, one count of assault causing bodily harm and one count of intoxicated in a public place. It is alleged that police observed the accused in an intoxicated condition on Albert Street around 9:20 pm last evening and when they ran a check on him they discovered he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for assault causing bodily harm and also failing to appear in court.

Male Arrested for Breaching Release Documents

22 year-old Richard Souriol was arrested on the 26th of February at 2:50 am on Albert Street and charged with three count of breach of release documents. It is alleged that around 2:50 am this morning police located the accused in an intoxicated state on Albert Street West and when they ran a check on him they discovered that he was on a recognizance order with conditions not to consume any alcohol. Further, the accused was found not be residing with his surety or at the address he was directed to in the order.

Update to Motor Vehicle Collision from Conmee Avenue and Carmen’s Way – Charges Laid

Motor Vehicle Collision at Carmen’s Way and Conmee Avenue:

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is currently investigating a serious motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles at the intersection of Carmen’s Way and Conmee Avenue. The accident occurred at approximately 8:10 am this morning. Fire Services also attended on scene to assist in removing one of the involved drivers from their vehicle. The driver has been transported to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries. The intersection was temporarily closed while officers were investigating at the scene but has now been re-opened to traffic. Traffic Services will be continuing the investigation and there are no further details to be released at this time.

As a result of this collision, 75 year-old Ernestine Wychopen of #901-615 Bay Street was charged with one count of fail to yield to traffic on through highway under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario. It is alleged that on the 25th of February at approximately 8:10 am she was operating her Plymouth Acclaim eastbound on Conmee Avenue and failed to yield to traffic on Carmen’s Way that resulted in a collision with a Mazda vehicle that had been travelling southbound on Carmen’s Way. She was transported to hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries. Both vehciles were severely damaged
