Joint Drug Investigation Results in Two Persons Charged with Drug Trafficking Offenses:

In February, members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Street Team, in conjunction with the Anishinabek Police Service, conducted a joint drug trafficking investigation in the city of Sault Ste. Marie. As a result of the investigation, two persons were arrested and charged last night. Guy Young, age 49, of 23 Lawson Avenue has been charged with two counts of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance, one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance and one count of impaired driving. It is alleged that at the time of his arrest he was operating a Ford Ranger while he was impaired by drugs and was found in possession of approximately 1.5 grams of cocaine, 2 digital scales, various drug paraphernalia, cutting agent, and cash.  He is to appear in bail court this morning. A female occupant in Young's vehicle that was found in possession of a quantity of cash was also arrested. Colleen Trudeau, age 52, of 43 Crawford Avenue was charged with one count of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance. She is to appear in court on the 26th of March. In the investigation, approximately 3.5 grams of cocaine was seized with a street value approximately $350.00, as well as a quantity of cash seized as offence related property. 

Male Charged with Possession of Stolen Property after Pawning Stolen Television:

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 20 year-old Skylar Wright of 140 Frontenac Street on the 23rd of February and charged him with one count of possession of property obtained by crime. It is alleged that on the 27th of January the accused attended at a local pawn shop and pawned a 42" LG Plasma television that had been stolen from a break and enter on Fish Hatchery Road on the 26th of January. The accused is to appear in court on the 19th of March.

Break and Enter Reports:

  • A residence on Second Line West was entered on February 22nd overnight.

  • A residence on Pine Street was entered on February 22nd overnight.

  • A business on Peoples Road was entered at 7:51 pm last night. Some change was reported stolen.
