Male Arrested on Outstanding Warrant

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 24 year-old Tyler Kennedy of 4 Varsity Avenue at 2:51 am this morning on an outstanding warrant and charged him with one count of fail to appear for prints.  It is alleged that on the 6th of January the accused failed to appear for prints in relation to a theft charge.  He is to appear in bail court this morning.

Male Charged with Trespassing at Night for Attempting to Break into a Garage & Vehicle on Hugill St.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 18 year-old Jordy Doyon of 50 Fish Hatchery Road on the 2nd of December at 12:10 am on Hugill Street and charged him with one count of trespassing at night and one count of intoxicated in a public place under the Liquor Licence Act.  It is alleged that on the 2nd of December at approximately 12:00 am the accused attempted to break into a garage and vehicle on Hugill Street.  The residents called police and the male homeowner chased the accused a short distance, apprehended him and held him until police took him into custody.  The accused was found to be in an intoxicated state at the time, was subsequently charged and is to appear in court on the 9th of January 2012. 

Update – Investigation Results in Accused being Charged with Possession of Stolen Property: 

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 18 year-old Jordy Doyon of 50 Fish Hatchery Road on the 8th of December at 9:05 pm and charged him with one count of possession of property obtained by crime. 

It is alleged that at the time of his arrest, on the 2nd of December on Hugill Street, the accused was found in possession of several items that officers suspected he had stolen from other vehicles in the area just prior to being apprehend by the homeowner.  Officers completed their investigation and confirmed the property found on him at the time of his arrest had been stolen from a vehicle on Parkdale Avenue that same evening.   The accused is to appear in court on the 9th of January 2012. 

 

Break and Enter/Theft Reports

  • A residence on Albert Street East was broken into yesterday.  An iPhone 4, a 32G iPod Touch, a MacBook Pro Laptop, a MacBook Air Laptop, an HP Mini Netbook, Cuban cigars and jewellery were reported stolen.
  • An attempt break and enter was reported to a residence on Pim Street. 
  • Steel was reported stolen from a business property on Peoples Road that occurred a couple of weeks ago. 
  • A vehicle on Hill Street was entered. 

 

Mischief Report 

A business parking lot in the 100 block of Trunk Road reported vandalism occurring to employee vehicles over the past week.

Motor Vehicle and Pedestrian Collision

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service was called to a motor vehicle and pedestrian collision at 1:25 pm yesterday in the 300 block of Great Northern Road.  It alleged that a pedestrian attempted to cross several lanes of traffic in the area of Staples on Great Northern Road when he was struck by a van that had been travelling southbound on Great Northern Road.  The 23 year-old male pedestrian was transported to Sault Area Hospital by EMS for treatment of serious, non-life threatening injuries.  The investigation is continuing
