Youth Charged wtih Breach of Probation

Around 2:30 am this morning City Police officers on routine patrol observed a youth running from a parked car in the parking lot of Korah Collegiate. Officers stopped the youth and a police query revealed that the youth was on two probation orders, both with curfew conditions. When officers checked the vehicle in the parking lot they found that the drivers side window had been broken. The 17-year old youth has been charged with one count of mischief under $5,000 and two counts of breach of probation.

Male Charged with Assault

A 28-year old male was arrested just after 3:30 am this morning. Officers attended in the downtown area in the 200 block of Wellington Street West after a call was received about a male and female arguing outside. Officers attended and located the couple. It is alleged that the male had assaulted his girlfriend by slapping her in the face and then also pulling her by the hair. A police query revealed that the male was on probation with a number of conditions including not to consume alcohol, not to physically interfere with the female and keep the peace and be good. The male has been charged with one count of assault and three counts of breach of probation.

House Fire Investigation

Yesterday officers from the Investigation Services Section teamed up with the local Fire Services Inspectors in regards to the house fire in the 100 block of London Street that occurred in the early morning hours. No one was injured in the incident. At this point it has been determined that the fire started in a closest in the residence but the cause is undetermined at this time. Officers from Investigation Services are continuing to interview a number of witnesses.
