SANTA CLAUS PARADE

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service would like to remind the public that the Santa Claus Parade will be held tomorrow December 6th at 6pm. All motorists are being reminded that there will be no parking on Queen Street from Simpson Street to Gore Street from 4pm until 7pm to allow for the streets to be plowed and for the parade to take place. We thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

FEMALE ARRESTED IN DOMESTIC RELATED INCIDENT

A 32 year old female has been charged with 1 count of assault and 1 count of breach of probation order. It is believed that on the 4th of December at approximately 9:30 pm the accused assaulted her common law boyfriend by pulling him down some stairs, scratching and chocking him. Police were called to the east end residence and the accused was arrested. The victim did not require medical attention. The accused will be appearing in bail court this morning.

2 MALES CHARGED IN DRUG RELATED INCIDENT

30 year old Jeffrey Jason Budge of 115 Cambridge Place, unit #301 has been charged with 4 counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance.
29 year old Jean Paul Joseph Gauvin of 148 Pim Street, unit #3, has been charged with 1 count of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance.
On the 4th of December members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service Street Team, along with the Canine Unit and the Emergency Services Unit executed a warrant at the residence of Jeffrey Budge, at 115 Cambridge Place unit #301.Officers located drug paraphemalia, a digital scale, 5.1 grams of Cocaine, 35 Oxycontin tablets and 7 Oxycodone tablets. The estimated street value of the drugs is $7100.00. The accused Jeffrey Budge was arrested at the scene at 8:45pm and will be appearing in bail court this morning.
During the course of the search Jean Paul Gauvin attended at the residence and was found to be in possession of 10 grams of Cannabis Marihuana with a street value of $200.00. He was arrested at 11pm and will be appearing in court on the 12th of January.

FEMALE CHARGED WITH ASSAULT

A 17 year old female was arrested yesterday just after 12pm and was charged with 2 counts of assault and will be appearing in court on the 12 of January. It is believed that on the 28th of November the accused attended at a local high school and assaulted a female known to her by punching, pushing and pulling her hair. The accused then assault her ex-boyfriend by scratching his face. Neither of the victims required medical attention.

MALE SHOPLIFTER

45 year old Mark John Vekich Of 383 7th Avenue has been charged with 1 count of theft under $5000 and 1 count of unauthorized possession of a weapon. On the 4th of December at 2:30pm the accused attended at Zellers at the Station Mall a stole a Joe Boxer watch from the store. The accused was apprehended by security outside of the store and held for Police. Upon searching the accused Officers found a switch blade knife in his pocket. The accused is scheduled for court on the 12th of January.
