Arrest Made in Break & Enter

Break and enter report from Dec 27th news release;
A residence in the 100 block of West St. was entered on Wed. December 26th at approx. 11:40 pm. A male suspect forced his way into the residence and attempted to steal a computer. The female resident confronted the suspect causing him to flee. Suspect left area in a red Dakota pickup truck. The male suspect is described as: Male, white, 40 years of age, tall, blond hair, wearing a brown jacket and blue jeans.

Yesterday afternoon city police arrested a male person in regards to the above mentioned break and enter. It is alleged that on Wed. December 26th at approx. 11:40 pm the accused, Daniel Greco broke into a residence on West St. Once inside he attempted to steal an X-Box game but was confronted by the homeowner. The accused is alleged to have grabbed the victim by the neck when she attempted to stop him. The accused fled the scene without obtaining the X-Box. Charged with one count of break and enter and one count of breach of probation is Daniel Greco, age 43, of 613 Queen St.W. He will be appearing in bail court today at 10:00 am.

Shoplifting from Sears

Yesterday afternoon city police were called to the Station Mall regarding a shoplifter. It is alleged that Carianne Towedo, age 32 of 427 Wellington St.E. entered the Sears Store and attempted to steal approx. $ 380.00 worth of clothing. She was observed placing the items in a bag and exiting the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Accused was arrested outside the store by security. Charged with one count of theft under
$ 5,000.00 is Carianne Towedo. She will be appearing in court on Jan 28th at 9:00 am.

Assault on Anna St.

Last night at approx. 11:30 pm city police were called to investigate an assault on Anna St. Upon arrival officers arrested a 19-year-old male and shortly there after arrested a 16-year-old female. It is alleged that the two accused assaulted a male victim by punching him several times in the face and head. The victim, an 18-year-old male was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released for his injuries. The 16-year-old female is charged with one count of assault and one count of breach of probation. The male, Kirk Moore, age 19, 126 Birchwood St. is charged with one count of assault. He will be appearing in court on Jan 28th at 9:00 am. The victim and accused are known to each another.

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service received two break and enter calls yesterday.

1) A construction trailer parked on Muriel Dr. was broken into and quantities of tools were stolen.

2) A home in the 100 block of Cathcart St. had a window on a door broken but culprits did not gain entry to premises.
