Male Arrested on Outstanding Warrant for Assault on Transit Operator and Threatening a Passenger

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 18 year-old Joseph Boyer of 27 Eagle Street, Garden River, Ontario on the 1st of December at 4:40 pm on Albert Street East on an outstanding warrant and charged him with one count of assault, one count of assault with a weapon and one count of threaten death or bodily harm. 

It is alleged that the accused was wanted for an incident that occurred on the 25th of November when he was riding a city transit bus in the Frontenac Street area and threatened a male passenger on the bus and attempted to rob him.  When the transit operator attempted to remove the accused of the bus, the accused spat on him, attempted to punch him several times and then threw a beer bottle at him, striking him in the head area.

The accused is to appear in bail court this morning. 

 

Male Youth Arrested after Pointing a BB gun at a Motorist

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 17 year-old male youth at 9:20 pm last night and charged him with one count of possession of a weapon for purpose dangerous to the public and two counts of breach of probation.  It is alleged that on the1st of December at approximately 9 pm the accused was walking in the area of the Pim Street hill with another unknown male, when he stepped into traffic and attempted to force a vehicle to stop by pointing a BB hand gun at the vehicle and yelling at the driver to pull over. 

Officers attended in the area and located the males in a parking lot on McNabb Street.  When police approached the males, they fled on foot.  Officers quickly apprehended the accused and found him in possession of a CO2 semi-automatic Power Line BB gun. 

At the time of the incident the accused was on probation orders with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.  The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.  

Police had received four calls earlier in the evening and two complaints throughout the week regarding vehicle windshields and residence windows in that area, and also downtown, being damaged by BB/Pellet gun shots.  Police are continuing the investigation into these incidents and are attempting to determine if the same youths are responsible.

  • A residence on Sharon Crescent was entered and tools were reported stolen.
  • A residence on Cooper Street was entered yesterday.  Money was reported stolen.
  • A residence on Leo Avenue was entered yesterday.  Electronics and cash were reported stolen.
  • An apartment on Lake Street was entered and jewellery was reported taken. 

 

Mischief Reports

  • Two vehicles were reported egged.
  • A window in the 100 block of March Street was broken.
