Y.O. CHARGED WITH THEFT A 15 year old male has been charged with theft under $5000 and 6 counts of breach of release document.
Y.O. CHARGED WITH THEFT

A 15 year old male has been charged with theft under $5000 and 6 counts of breach of release document. It is believed that on December 11th at approximately 2pm, the accused was at the Wal-Mart Store where he placed a bottle of Hydroxycut Pills into his jacket. The accused then exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the item. He was apprehended by store staff and held for Police. When the Officers ran a CPIC check of the accused he was found to be wanted on a warrant for breaching his previous release document. He will be appearing in bail court this morning.

MALE ARRESTED FOR CALLING EX-GIRLFRIEND

A 24 year old male has been charged with 1 count of breach of undertaking. It is believed that on the 11th of December at approximately 10:30 am the accused did breach his undertaking by communicating with his ex-girlfriend by contacting her by telephone. The accused was bound by an undertaking to not communicate with the victim. He will be appearing in bail court this morning.

MALE CHARGED IN DOMESTIC RELATED ASSAULTS

A 50 year old male has been charged with 3 counts of assault and 2 counts of threatening death or bodily harm and will be appearing in bail court this morning.
It is believed that on the 11th of December at approximately 9pm the accused and his wife returned home after an evening of drinking. The accused became involved in an argument with his wife and adult daughter. The accused proceeded to assault his wife by grabbing and throwing her. The accused then assaulted his daughter by grabbing her by the throat and shoving her. The accused also threatened both by stating he was going to get his gun and they were going to pay.
In a previous incident which occurred on the 24th of December 2007 the accused punched his wife in the back of the head.
Neither of the victims in this incident required medical attention.

ROBBERY

Last night the Sault Ste Marie Police Service along with the k-9 unit responded to a robbery at the Country Style Donuts Shop on Trunk Road at approximately 11:30pm. The accused attended there and demanded the money from the till. The accused pointed to his pocket and the victim believed that he had a knife. The victim refused to give him any money and he became frustrated and left the store on foot. The K-9 unit and officers tracked the accused to the Mac’s Mart on Boundary Road, where he was located hiding under the counter with boxes of pizza covering him. The boxes were valued at $14.97.
22 year old Donald Irving Jordan of 2 August Street has been charged with 1 count of robbery, 1 count of theft under $5000 and 1 count of breach of probation order. The accused will be appearing in bail court this morning.

MALE CHARGED WITH NUMEROUS OFFENCES

Officers from patrol and the k-9 unit arrested 41 year old Sean Daniel McLarty of 80 Sharon Crescent and charged him with 1 count of failing to provide a breath sample, 4 counts of operating a motor vehicle while disqualified, 1 count of impaired driving, 1 count of breach of undertaking and 1 count of breach of probation order.
On the 11th of December the accused was observed operating a vehicle on Korah Rd near Devon Rd. Officers activated their emergency lights and sirens and the accused continued to drive away. The vehicle was eventually stopped on Douglas Avenue. When officers spoke to the accused he appeared to be intoxicated and gave officers a false name. The accused then left the area and was located a short distance away by officers. He was arrested and is scheduled for bail court today.

Break & Enter

A break and enter to a shed occurred on First Avenue, and a Honda generator was stolen.

CHILD STRUCK BY VEHICLE

Yesterday just after 6pm, Officers from The Sault Ste Marie Police Service responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a 4 year old pedestrian. The accident occurred on Wellington Street West near civic number 34. It is believed that the 4 year old boy was playing on the roadway when he was struck by a west bound 2006 GMC van that was pulling over to the curb of the road to park. The boy suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital by his parents. The driver in this incident was not charged.

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service would like to remind parents to speak with their children in reguards to playing on or near roadways. Motorists are reminded that children may be tempted to play on or near snow banks now that the snow has arrived. Please be extra cautious of children especially in areas of lower visibility.
