The following three individuals will be appearing in bail court today. 1. Last night at approx. 8:30 pm city police attended at the Korah Collegiate and located an intoxicated male.
The following three individuals will be appearing in bail court today.

1. Last night at approx. 8:30 pm city police attended at the Korah Collegiate and located an intoxicated male. Investigations by the officers revealed that the male was on a recognizance release with conditions that he not consume alcohol. Charged with two counts of breach of recognizance is Andrew Chikoski, age 27, of 155 Glasgow Ave.

2. Yesterday afternoon city police attended at the Sears store in the Station Mall and arrested 32-year-old Emily Yeomans, of 40 Hynes St. It is alleged that the accused Yeomans attended at the Sears store and stole a quantity of clothing items and some necklaces. It is further alleged that at the time of this offence the accused was on probation and that she was wanted on three warrants. The accused is charged with two counts of theft under $ 5,000, two counts of breach of probation, one count of fail to appear in court, and one count of fail to appear for prints.

3. At approx. 2:40 pm yesterday afternoon city police attended at 364 Elizabeth St. and arrested 22 -year-old Mark Pine. Mr. Pine was originally arrested on four warrants. It is further alleged that at the time of his arrest officers located small quantities of marihuana and some oxycontin pills on him. Mark Pine is charged with seven counts of breach of probation, one count of fail to appear for court, one count of fail to appear for prints and one count of possession of a controlled substance.

Overnight three persons were arrested for impaired driving.

1. Charles Catling, age 37, of 13 Nils Bay Rd. It is alleged that at approx. 11:10 pm Mr. Catling was operating his vehicle on Woodward Ave. when he collided with a utility pole. Charles Catling is charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of drive over 80mgs.

2. A 17-year-old male was arrested at 8:15pm last night and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of drive over 80 mgs. It is alleged that the accused was driving his vehicle at a high rate of speed on Korah Rd. The accused then drove his vehicle through a field off of Cooper St. and into a creek.

3. Nathan Inch, age 24, of 231 Birchwood St. It is alleged that at approx. 1:15 am this morning the accused was operating his vehicle on East St. and refused to stop for a police roadside check. The police stopped the accused vehicle on Tower St. and upon exiting the vehicle officers determined that the accused was impaired by alcohol. A breathalyzer demand was made and the accused refused to provide a breath sample. The accused is charged with one count of impaired driving, one count of failure to provide sample and one count of fail to stop for police.

The city police were kept busy investigating seven reports of mischief overnight.

1. Sunnydale Rd. - vehicle damaged.
2. Retta St. - vehicle egged.
3. Taskar Dr. - vehicle egged.
4. 900 block of Goulais Ave. - construction equipment damaged.
5. 200 block of Great Northern Rd. - construction equipment damaged.
6. 200 block of Albert St.W. - garage spray painted.
7. 100 block of Pim St. lit bag of garbage thrown at home.

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service also received three reports of thefts from vehicles.

Thefts were reported on Alworth Pl, Hawthorne Ave and Chapple Ave. Once again the public is reminded not to leave any valuable in their vehicles.

R.I.D.E

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service operated a R.I.D.E. program last night. The following statistics were obtained:

561 vehicles stopped
8- Roadside tests administered
0 - 12 hour suspensions
2- Impaired driving charges
1 - Fail to provide sample charge

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service investigated three reports of break-ins yesterday.

The Butcher’s Block located at 84 Second Line W. was broken into -a small amount of cash was stolen.

At approx. 3:30 pm yesterday afternoon neighbours observed a male person breaking into a residence in the 100 block of Bloor St.W. The suspect is described as: Male, white 18-20 years of age, wearing a baseball cap and jeans.

There was an attempted entry reported to a residence in the 300 block of Elizabeth St. Nothing was taken.
