Four youth arrested for break and enter
At 5:30 am this morning members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested four young males for break and enter. It is alleged that the four accused broke into a garage in the 100 block of Foothill Rd and then stole property from a vehicle. The accused were located, with the assistance of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service canine unit, on Fourth Line W.
The tracking of the accused took officers through numerous yards of residences in the Goulais Ave and the Fourth Line W. area.
Charged are:
1. A 15-year-old male. He is charged with one count of break and enter and one count of trespass by night. He is scheduled to appear in court on Sept 21st at 9:30 am.

3. A 16-year-old male. He is charged with one count of break and enter, one count of trespass by night and two counts of breach of probation. At the time of these offences the accused was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and abide by a curfew of 10:00 pm to 6:00 am.
4. A17-year-old male. He is charged with one count of break and enter, one count of trespass by night and one count of breach of a recognizance release order. . At the time of these offences the accused was on a recognizance release order with a condition to abide by a curfew of 9:00 pm to 7:00 am.

Three persons to appear in bail court
Early this morning members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 19-year-old male for break and enter. It is alleged that at 2:15 am this morning the accused broke into a residence in the 100 block of Creekside Lane and stole a quantity of jewelllery, personal papers and electronic items. The homeowner discovered the accused in the residence and called police. The police canine unit located the accused a short time later. Meeshan Jacobs, age 19, of 75 Creekside Lane is charged with one count of break and enter and one count of possession of property obtained by crime.

Yesterday afternoon members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 19-year-old male for robbery and break and enter. It is alleged that on August 7th, 2010 the accused and another male broke into a residence in the downtown area. It is further alleged that while in the residence the accused used a bat to assault the male tenant and then stole a small amount of cash from the victim. At the time of these offences the accused was on probation. Jordan Paim, age 19, of 331 Wellington St. W is charged with one count of break and enter, one count of robbery and one count of breach of probation.

Yesterday morning members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 24-year-old male for possession of child pornography. It is alleged that on August 6th 2010 the accused had in his possession several videos of child pornography. It is further alleged that the accused distributed or made available child pornography material. Michael Bumbacco, age 24, of 49 Wellington St. E Apt # 1 is charged with two counts of possession of child pornography and one count of distributing child pornography.

Mischief
A fence was damaged at a residence in the 200 block of Second Ave.
The bus shelter in the 600 block of Trunk Rd was damaged.


Break and enter
Break and enters were reported to the following locations:
The 100 block of Amherst St - electronics were stolen.
The 200 block of Cathcart St. - unknown what was taken.
The 100 block of Estelle St. – electronics and jewelllery were stolen.

Theft
A storage area in an apartment building in the 400 block of Queen St. W. was entered – tools were stolen.
A bicycle was stolen from the 200 block of Alexandra St.

Note to public
The Sault Ste Marie Police Service has received a large number of stolen bicycle reports this past summer. Many of the stolen bicycles are not registered with the police service and therefore when unregistered bicycles are located it is difficult for the police to return them to their lawful owner. It is also important for people that have registered their bicycles to update any change of address. Bicycle registration is a free service.

Safety lanes
Yesterday mobile safety lane inspections were performed at several locations throughout the city by the
Sault Ste Marie Police Patrol and Traffic Services.
18 Vehicles were checked.
8 drivers were given warnings and educated on how to complete repairs for minor defects.
