Male Arrested at Canada Customs facing Pornography Charges
Yesterday afternoon, officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Technological Crime Unit were called to assist Canada Customs and Immigration with a male that they had stopped at the border checkpoint on Huron Street that was allegedly found in possession of child pornography. As a result of the investigation and upon discovering evidence of child pornography found on a laptop inside the accused male’s vehicle, officers arrested him.

The accused, 69 year-old Gene Eplett, of San Francisco, California was charged with one count of Possession of Child Pornography and one count of Importing Child Pornography. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

Shoplifter Arrested
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 19 year-old Thomas Agawa of #8-160 Frontenac Street at 2:30 am this morning and charged him with one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that at approximately 2:13 am, the accused attended at a local east end convenience store and stole some items. Officers located him a short time later walking on Frontenac Street and at the time they found him to be under the influence of alcohol. The accused was on a probation order not to consume any alcohol. He is to appear in court tom the 9th of May.

Mischief Reports
• At approximately 11:46 pm last night, a van travelling on Gore Street had a brick thrown at the front window. A male suspect was observed throwing the brick from an upper apartment window on Gore Street. The investigation is ongoing. No description is available at this time. The window was shattered, but no injuries were reported to the driver.
• A home on Millwood Street was egged last night.

Theft Reports
• A Sport Tech Slingshot blue bike was stolen from a yard on George Street sometime Wednesday overnight.
• A wallet was stolen from a change room at a local health club yesterday.
