More Charges Laid Against Ouimet On the 20th of April, the accused was arrested and charged with two counts of murder in connection to the murder of 40-year old Melody Burtis and her 8-year old son Harley Baxter-Burtis.

More Charges Laid Against Ouimet

On the 20th of April, the accused was arrested and charged with two counts of murder in connection to the murder of 40-year old Melody Burtis and her 8-year old son Harley Baxter-Burtis. He was also charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of breach of probation.

Mr. Ouimet was advised earlier this afternoon that he faces more charges. In addition to his present charges he will face two counts of kidnapping and one count of break and enter and commit an indictable offence. This information was provided to the media at 2 pm today during a press conference held by the Service.


Break & Enters

City Police are investigating two break and enters from over the weekend.

Early Saturday morning, at approx. 4:00 AM, an unknown male person entered a residence in the 100 block of Bloor St. W. The suspect, carrying a baseball bat, entered the residence and stole a small amount of cash, a portable CD player and rode off on the complainant’s mountain bike. The suspect entered the residence via an unlocked patio door. Suspect is described as a male, approx. 6’2”, wearing a balaclava, jeans shirt and a white T-shirt. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the City Police or Crimestoppers.

A second break and enter was reported to a residence in the 500 block of Parliament St. It is unknown what was stolen at this time.

Impaired Driving

City Police arrested one male for Impaired Driving over the weekend. It is alleged that the accused, Cory Wigmore was operating his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol on Sunday morning at approx. 12:25 Am on Great Northern Rd. Cory Wigmore, age 29 of 102 Ashgrove St. will be appearing in court on Monday May29th at 9;00 AM on charges of Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80 mgs.

Mischief On Wilding Ave

City Police are investigating a mischief caused to the washers and dryers at the 110 Wilding Ave. apartment building. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the City Police or Crimestoppers.

Off Road Racing Bike Stolen

City Police are asking the public’s assistance in locating a stolen off road racing bike. The victim reports that unknown person(s) stole his racing bike from the back of his pick up truck, at his residence in the 100 block of Ontario Ave. on Friday morning. The bike is described as a 1999 Suzuki RM 125 black in colour with a yellow gas tank. The bike is equipped with high performance racing parts.

Domestic Dispute

On Saturday evening City Police arrested a 27-year-old male as a result of a domestic argument. It is alleged that the accused male struck his ex-common-law girlfriend, in the head and eye. The accused will be appearing in Bail Court on Monday April 24th at 10:00 AM. The victim did not require medical attention for her injuries.

Charged With Assault & Resisting Arrest

At approx. 11:50 AM on Friday April 21st City Police were called to disturbance on Dacey Rd. It is alleged that the accused male did assault a female person known to him. Upon arrival of the police officer the accused became agitated and attempted to punch the police officer. The accused, an 18-year-old male, was pepper sprayed and restrained. The accused will be appearing in court on Monday May 29th at 9:00 AM on charges of Assault and Resist Arrest.
