Four arrested, facing multiple drug and weapons charges

The arrests came as part of a search warrant that saw police seize weapons and suspected drugs

City police seized a pair of weapons as part of a search warrant executed on Friday afternoon on Third Avenue.

Sault Ste. Marie Police have charged four people following the execution of a search warrant on Friday afternoon.

Shortly after 4:30 p.m., officers executed the warrant in the 300 block of Third Ave.

Following is a full release from police on the arrests and charges:

On May 21, 2021 officers with the Crime Suppression Unit and Drug Enforcement Unit charged 37-year-old Nicholas Fata, 18-year-old Maurice Fidd from Toronto, 39-year-old Erin Nicholson and a 16-year-old boy from Toronto with firearm offences.

Around 4:34 p.m. officers executed a search warrant in the 300 block of Third Avenue. While enroute to the residence to execute the search warrant officers observed a vehicle leaving the residence and conducted a traffic stop on Wallace Terrace. Nicholas Fata was the driver of the vehicle and he was arrested and held while officers executed the search warrant.

Upon entry of the residence officers located Maurice Fidd, Erin Nicholson and a 16-year-old boy inside the residence. They were arrested. During a subsequent search of the residence officers located a 30.06 calibre rifle, a 12 gauge shotgun, ammunition, digital scales, packaging material, approximately 12.52 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine, approximately 4.29 grams of a substance believed to be methamphetamine and $5,590 of Canadian currency. The estimated value of the narcotics seized is $2,000.

Nicholas Fata is charged with two counts of knowingly possession an unauthorized firearm, two counts of careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, nine counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, possession of property obtained by crime, two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm and of breach of probation.

Maurice Fidd is charged with two counts of careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohobited device or ammunition, two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, two counts of knowingly possessing an unauthorized firearm, two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.

Erin Nicholson is charged with two counts of careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, two counts of knowingly possession an unauthorized firearm, two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.

The 16-year-old boy is charged with possession of property obtained by crime, two counts of careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, two counts of knowingly possessing an unauthorized firearm and two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

All four of the accused were held for bail court.
