Cops say they found a marijuana grow op at Walters Street residence

On Aug. 28, 2019 officers with the Drug Enforcement, Crime Suppression, Emergency Services, Technological Crime and Patrol Services Units arrested 37 year old Travis Parsons and 23 year old Riley Goodmurphy of Walters Street, 22 year old Sara Eastman of Albert Street East and 25 year old Joshua Wilson of Farwell Terrace as a result of an ongoing investigation.

Sault Police, with assistance from the Canada Border Services Agency, began an investigation earlier this month and as a result executed search warrants at a residence in the 0-100 block of Walters Street on August 28, 2019.

Inside the residence officers located a marijuana grow operation with approximately 70 plants in varying stages of growth valued at approximately $13,000, a small amount of methamphetamine, approximately 37 oxycodone pills and approximately 37 grams of cocaine valued at approximately $4,000. Police also located two firearms, ammunition, three prohibited weapons, approximately $3,400 in Canadian currency and packaging materials.

Four people were located inside the residence as officers executed the search warrant.

Mr. Wilson is charged with fail to appear in connection with outstanding warrants.

Ms. Eastman is charged with unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon.

Mr. Parsons and Ms. Goodmurphy are charged with the following:

  • Possession for the purpose of distributing
  • Cultivating
  • Careless Storage of a weapon x 3
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance x 2
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Proceeds of Crime
  • Possession of a Prohibited Weapon x 3

In addition, Mr. Parsons is charged with two counts of importing without authority and two counts of knowledge of importing without authority.

Mr. Wilson and Ms. Eastman are scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 7, 2019. Mr. Parsons and Ms. Goodmurphy were held for bail court.
