Cheque reported stolen near Ottawa found in the Sault

Police say a 27-year-old attempted to cash the cheque at a local business

A 27-year-old is facing a pair of charges after a cheque for $850 that was reported stolen in Nepean, Ont. was found in the Sault.

Police say that shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday, the were called to a business in the 0-100 block of Great Northern Road after being told that someone was attempting to cash a forged cheque.

Further investigation determined the origin of the cheque and police have charged Jessi Williams with:

  • uttering forged document
  • possession of stolen property

Williams is scheduled to appear in court at the end of October.
