Arrest made in March armed robbery investigation

Police say the accused pointed a firearm at the victim

Police have charged Michael Genetti in relation to a March 10 robbery that occurred in the 300 block of Albert Street West.

A news release issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service alleges that the 33-year-old accused pointed a firearm at the victim and took property from the residence.

Genetti was arrested Monday and faces numerous firearms charges related to the incident.

On April 12, 2021, officers with Patrol Services charged 33-year-old Michael Genetti with robbery with a firearm.

On March 10, 2021, officers responded to a weapons call in the 300 block of Albert Street West. Upon arrival, the accused had fled the area. It’s alleged the accused pointed a firearm at a victim and stole property from the residence.

A warrant was issued for the his arrest. Officers located the accused on April 12, 2021 in the area of Wellington Street West and Carmen’s Way and he was arrested.

He is charged with robbery with a firearm, using a firearm in the commission of an offence, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing possession is unauthorized, possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order and breach of probation.

He was held for bail court.
