A 19-year-old is facing multiple charges after allegedly punching a person several times and swinging a knife at them.

At around 6:40 p.m. on Monday, a person phoned 911 to report an assault with a weapon in the 0-100 block of Chapple Avenue.

“Although the accused left prior to officers’ arrival, investigation revealed the accused had attended the residence of someone known to them, punched them several times, and swung a knife at them, causing minor physical injuries,” says a news release issued today by Sault Police. “They also damaged property at the residence.”

The next day, officers were dispatched to an unrelated call and located the suspect.

Jada Mallia, 19, was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault with Weapon x2
  • Assault
  • Mischief Under $5,000

The accused is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Mallia is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
