71-year-old man faces assault, sexual assault charges in domestic incidents

Alleged incidents took place between November 2017 and January 2018

On Jan. 21, officers with the Patrol Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 71-year-old male from Sault Ste. Marie as a result of a domestic violence incident.

It is alleged that in November of 2017 the accused forcibly confined a female victim to a residence, and assaulted her when she tried to leave. 

Later, on Jan. 20, 2018, the accused pushed the victim to a bed and sexually assaulted her. 

On Jan. 21, 2018, the accused dragged the victim by the hair into a residence and then assaulted her each time she tried to leave.

Police were contacted and the accused was taken into custody. He has been charged with two counts of assault, two counts of forcible confinement and one count of sexual assault. He was held for bail court.
