A 53-year-old driver was stopped for stunt driving on Jan. 17, 2023.

The vehicle was travelling 135 km/h in a 60km/h zone on Second Line East.

On Jan. 17, 2023, at 4:18 p.m. officers with Traffic Services stopped a 53-year-old driver for stunt driving.

The vehicle was travelling at 135 km/h in a 60km/h zone on Second Line East. The driver is facing an automatic 30-day licence suspension and the vehicle will be impounded for 14 days in accordance with stunt driving regulations under the Highway Traffic Act. The average fee to have your vehicle towed and impounded for 14 days is approximately $1,400.

Driving at dangerous speeds is proven to cause serious injuries and death of drivers and passengers of vehicles, and others using roadways. Everyone in Sault Ste. Marie and Prince Township is urged to drive according to conditions and to obey posted speed limits.
