28-year-old charged in relation to two theft incidents

A news release issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service states that 28-year-old Shawn Mandigo has been charged in relation to two theft incidents.

Both incidents are reported to have happened on Sunday – the first in the morning on Curran Avenue, and the second in the afternoon on Great Northern Road.

On Dec. 5, 2021, officers with Patrol Services charged 28-year-old Shawn Mandigo with break and enter.

Around 9:30 a.m., officers responded to reports of a break and enter at a residence in the 0-100 block of Curran Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located a man in the area of the residence carrying property. He identified himself, but during the investigation officers determined it was a false name and were able to identify him as the accused.

He was arrested. He is charged with break and enter and identity fraud. He was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 31, 2022.

Around 2:52 p.m., officers responded to reports of a theft from a business in the 300 block of Great Northern Road. Officers responded and found the accused in the 200 block of Great Northern Road. He was in possession of several items reported stolen from the business, worth approximately $647.

He was arrested. He is charged with theft under $5,000. He was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 31, 2022.
