A 20-year-old Sault man has been charged with impaired operation causing death, stemming from a crash that took place on June 26, 2020.

Police say a 48-year-old cyclist was struck by a motor vehicle on the 1000 block of Peoples Rd. shortly after midnight on June 26. He was transported to the hospital with major injuries where he later died.

The lone occupant of the motor vehicle was not injured.

Police announced in a press release today that investigation determined the accused's ability to operate a vehicle was impaired by drug, and speed was a factor in the collision.

As a result, Matthew White was arrested this morning and charged with impaired operation causing death and dangerous operation causing death.

He was held for bail court.
