19-year-old driver charged with impaired after red light collision

Police say the accused failed multiple breath tests

Sault police have arrested Tieryn Ubaldi in relation to an impaired driving investigation that took place on Dec. 2.

A news release issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service alleges that the 19-year-old driver struck a vehicle at a red light on Pim Street.

Full text of the release follows:

On Dec. 2, 2021, officers with Patrol Services charged 19-year-old Tieryn Ubaldi with impaired driving – blood alcohol concentration (80+).

Around 9:18 p.m., officers responded to reports of a collision in the area of Pim Street and Wellington Street East.

The initial investigation identified the vehicle driven by the accused had struck a vehicle stopped at a red light on Pim Street.

Upon speaking with the accused, officers developed grounds to believe his ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. He provided a breathe sample into an approved device, registering a fail result.

He was arrested and later provided two breathe samples into an approved device, registering two fail results.

He is charged with impaired driving – blood alcohol concentration (80+). He was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 24, 2022.
