Seek out the city's new big blue chairs (6 photos)

Seeking out the city's Adirondack chairs could be a great family activity

Hidden in plain view throughout the city are five big blue chairs that were purchased by the Mayor's Youth Advisory Council (MYAC).

According to Rick Borean, supervisor, Community Services with the city, the council provides funding each year for a community project that provides benefit to the community and meaningful opportunities for youth contribution.

The council consists of up to 12 youths who meet monthly to advise city council on what matters to local youth.

After researching and comparing to what other communities have done to keep their citizens active this year, MYAC made the decision to pursue costs, source materials and the feasibility of providing big blue Adirondack chairs that would be dispersed and installed around the city.

These chairs are for the enjoyment of the community, and an invitation is extended to take a walk and seek them out, snap a photo, and even tag @CitySSM on social media.

In the interest of safety, residents are urged to keep COVID-19 guidelines in mind and practice physical distancing when out and about.
