HISTORY:

It was part of the OPAS fleet from 1937 until its sale to Green Airways of Red Lake in 1948. It was nicknamed the “Gull-wing” due to its elegant tapered wings. Used for the first water bombing in history by Carl Crossley. It was popular with the executives for its leather covered inside. Considered the Cadillac amongst planes in the 1930’s. It had no heating system and the engine had to be heated by blow torch before it would start in the winter.

STORY:

In 1979 CF-BGN was parked in a field when vandals set the field on fire, the plane went up in flames as well. The frame of the SR-9 was coated in red oxide paint to preserve the metal structure.
