De Havilland Otter

The “big brother” of the Beaver, the Otter (DHC-3) is considered the flying one tonne truck. With a bigger wingspan and fuselage, and a more powerful engine, the Otter could carry double the payload of the Beaver. Need an ATV in the bush? Why not strap two of them to floats of the Otter? The Otter was also important in the development of aerial forest fire fighting techniques and could be fitted with two roll tanks and belly tank. This particular Otter was purchased by the Ontario Provincial Air Service in 1960 but was severely damaged in a forced landing in Moosenee in 1984. CBHC volunteers spent over 10 years restoring this beautiful aircraft.
