Bell 47D

Long before the popular TV show, M.A.S.H., made the Bell helicopter recognizable to the general public, the Department of Lands and Forests used it for forest fire fighting (it could drop buckets of water), powerline construction, forestry and geological surveys, crop dusting, and search and rescues. The Bell helicopter also has the distinction of being the first helicopter in Canada permitted for civilian use. This particular helicopter was donated by Canadore College in North Bay and was restored to the configuration of one owned by the Ontario Department of Lands and Forests.
