Robert Steven Wright will be serving 12 years of a life sentence before being eligible to apply for parole. Wright was sentenced in a Sudbury courtroom following his guilty verdict in the 1998 killing of Renee Sweeney.

Last month's search for 11 year old Ruby Kerr who went missing for more than 24 hours will cost Sault Police between $30,000 and $50,000. Kerr, who was found safe, went missing from the St.Kateri Outdoor Learning Center.

Although some northern Ontario communities are moving forward with Canada Day celebrations that will include fireworks, both Sudbury and Elliot Lake have cancelled or postponed them. Fire bans exist in a number of regions across the province.

Driver’s licence renewals and car registration renewals have fallen since the province stopped mailing reminder notices. This has left many Ontarians vulnerable to serious consequences like fines and denial of insurance coverage.
