Municipal Voting Day is today Monday, October 24, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Electors should have received a card notifying them of their voting location.

Electors will vote at their assigned voting location. Voter notification cards were mailed to residents in early October. Electors can find their voting location online at saultstemarie.ca/voterservices. The voter notification card is not mandatory to vote.

Identification

Electors should provide identification showing their name and qualifying address. Neither passports nor health cards are acceptable identification as they do not show addresses. The voter notification card is not accepted as identification.

Voting by Proxy

Apply to have another elector vote on your behalf. The elector appointing a proxy signs a form which the proxy voter brings to the City Clerk for certification. Original signatures are required. Proxies must be certified by 4:30 p.m. today. Find the application form online at saultstemarie.ca/votebyproxy

Accessibility

Tools to assist individuals with visual impairments are available at all voting locations.

Vote by Mail

Vote by mail kits can be picked up and dropped off at the Ronald A. Irwin Civic Centre until 8 p.m. today.

Curbside Voting

Electors unable to go inside a voting place may use curbside voting. An election official will bring a ballot to your vehicle. A friend or support person will need to go inside the voting place to let the election official know that you require curbside voting.

Free Transit

Use your voter notification card to access free transit to and from your voting location.

If you have any questions call the City Clerks office at 705-759-5388 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Unofficial election results will be on the City’s website at www.saultstemarie.ca/election2022 beginning shortly after the voting locations close at 8:00 p.m.

SooToday will have full election coverage this evening and tomorrow morning.
