Three Ottawa sports-radio hosts continued their banter this morning about the women of Sault Ste. Marie.

"Want any cheese with that wine?" asked Buzz, the Team 1200 radio personality who yesterday described most Sault Ste. Marie women as smelling "like boxed wine."

"Boxed wine is cheap - I love the smell of that, " Buzz told his listeners just before 8 a.m. today, insisting he was actually complimenting the women of Northern Ontario.

"Nothing beats a fine wine," he added.

The radio personalities then denied saying there are "lots of sasquatches" in the Sault, insisting they were referring to Sensquatch, an Ottawa Senators mascot.

However, a SooToday.com review of the Team 1200 podcast this morning confirms the term "sasquatches" was clearly used one hour, 58 minutes and 45 seconds into yesterday's broadcast, in reference to Northern Ontario.

"It is outragous that this type of comment reaches the media," SooToday.com reader Peter Greco says in an e-mail sent to us this morning. "People that make this type of comment should be removed from the airwaves. It is very degrading to the women of Sault Ste Marie and to women in general. My personal opinion is that the Sault has the most beautiful women in the province."

"Too bad you didn't have a savvy female on your show to liven things up a bit," Christine Sy, an MA student in Trent University's Canadian Studies and Native Studies programs, wrote to the radio station this morning. "You may have to consider this in order to repair the harm that has been done to women, particularly to us boxes of wine....It's amazing how ignorance has a profound ability to make money, isn't it?"
