Court House fire investigation complete. Cause remains a mystery

In the early morning of August 30, 2011, at approximately 03:45 hours, Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services personnel responded to structural fire at 426 Queen Street East - the Provincial Court House.

Due the nature of this incident, Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services requested the assistance of the Office of the Fire Marshal in determining the origin and cause of the fire.

As a result, the Ontario Fire Marshal Investigator determined the origin of the fire to be within an office in the east section of the basement level.

The investigator has completed the investigation and has concluded the cause of this fire to be “undetermined”.
