G'Day mates!

I am currently living in Sydney, Australia on summer holidays from my studies at the University of the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.

My roommate Al and I (see picture) have moved down to Sydney for the holidays to work and to live with my aunt, uncle and three cousins.

This is the first Christmas I have ever spent away from family and friends in the Soo.

It is always a week long celebration of food, drink and family starting on Christmas Eve at my house.

Thanks to the wonders of technology and Skype, I was still able to be there for a few minutes with my family on Christmas Eve as they crowded around the laptop with food and drink in hand to say hello.

On this side of the world, I celebrated with my uncle's side of the family, with a Uruguayan and Greek twist to Christmas.

While the weather was quite nice here on Christmas, a brisk 25 degrees celsius, I was surprised to hear that there was very little snow in the Soo!

While my first Christmas in Australia was a wonderful experience, it just didn't quite feel like Christmas without all the family, friends and of course, unpredictable snowy weather of Sault Ste. Marie.

Lots of love goes out to my mother Debbie, brother Jeff, sister Cassidy, stepfather Bill and of course my entire extended family; the Camerons, the Kennedys, the Mathewsons, the Suurnas, the Schreibers, the Abernots, etc. and any more I may have forgotten (just imagine all of those people crammed into one house on Christmas eve).

And much love to my many friends and colleagues in the Sault as well.

May you have a wonderful holiday season with your families!

Brad Lloyd
