The following message from a loyal reader living in Fort McMurray is one of many special greetings that SooToday.com will be publishing over the holidays.
Hello from Fort McMurray!
I'd like to wish all my friends and family back home a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
For all those who know me, know I like to move pretty often and the feet got itchy again this year.
Once again, I headed out west but instead of Alaska like a few years ago, I chose
Fort McMurray, Alberta.
The call of the oil fields interested me but instead, I'm working for a large law firm until the ground thaws.
I've also decided to jump in to politics by joining a political campaign.
The job comes with a few perks, like free tickets to meet Paul Brandt!
He flew up to perform an acoustic concert for a fundraising gala.
Paul Brandt + guitar + microphone = Pure ear bliss.
I'm enjoying the city and scenery.
We have a bit of snow but I was told it will get -45 here so I had to buy a new coat!
And I thought the Soo was bad.
The city is very diverse with people from all over the world coming here to work.
However, there is one major thing that lacks: Not a single good Italian restaurant!
I used to complain about not being able to find anything but pasta and lasagne.
Now, I would give my left shoe for some.
Anyone willing to send Pino's Sausage via air mail?
Can't wait to visit this summer.
Have awesome holidays and see you in 2012.
Love, Holly.
