**************************** Landslide Road homicide investigation update - Victim’s identity

Investigators with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service believe that they have identified the victim in this homicide.

Confirmation of the identity of the victim and the cause of death is pending the completion of the post-mortem which will be held in Sudbury at a time to be determined.

Investigators are confirming that there was dismemberment involved with the victim’s body, however the cause of death remains unknown at this time.

The investigation is ongoing, but at this point in the investigation, police are confident that this homicide was not a random act of violence and that there is no threat to the public’s safety.

Investigators remain at the scene and Landslide Road between Old Garden River Road and Fourth Line East remains closed.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service continues to request the public’s assistance with the investigation and would like to thank all those that have been providing tips with regards to this incident.
