Landslide Rd case considered homicide

************************* Landslide Road suspicious death investigation

Yesterday at 3:39 p.m., the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service received a call from a citizen advising that there was a deceased body off the roadway on Landslide Road.

Officers attended and located a deceased male at the bottom of the embankment off the roadway on the east side of Landslide Road between Old Garden River Road and Fourth Line East.

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service investigation and forensic units commenced an investigation.

During preliminary investigations, obvious signs of trauma were discovered to the deceased male’s body and investigators are now treating this suspicious death as a homicide investigation.

Investigators are working with the coroner’s office to determine the identity of the victim.

A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death at a time and location to be determined.

Police and investigators remain on Landslide Road where the body was discovered and the road will remain closed between Old Garden River Road and Fourth Line East as they conduct their investigation.

Police are requesting the public’s assistance with this investigation.
