The arrow heard around the world

By David Helwig
Saturday, October 29, 2005

When we noticed one of Friday's news stories on getting thousands of extra hits today, we knew exactly where to look.

We immediately went to, the satirical U.S. website that loves poking fun at some of the quirky, small-town news items we post.

Sure enough, we found we'd been Farked again.

This time, the Farkers were getting their tighty-whiteys in a knot over Stephen Woods, the guy accused of getting part of downtown Sault Ste. Marie shut down on Thursday when he accidentally shot an arrow out his window.

Of course, Farkers are not always the brightest bulbs in the chandelier, so they're mistaking our community with the Michigan Soo and they're quite perplexed about our Canadian gun storage laws.

To read what they're saying about us right now, click here.

Then, follow the links below to read some past discussions about Sault Ste. Marie and articles.

Are you a Farker?

Welcome to, the quirky news site that's all about life in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.

We're rather fond of our little city, and we promise we won't shoot any arrows at you if you spend your next vacation in our beautiful part of Canada.

We even have a hot chick named Paige with weird eyebrows who helps people plan their visits here.
