OHL Roundup: Shutouts highlight end of week

A pair of shutouts highlighted the Sunday schedule in the Ontario Hockey League as five games wrapped up the week of action. In Kingston, Spencer Watson had two goals and two assists as the Kingston Frontenacs blanked the Ottawa 67’s 8-0.

In Kingston, Spencer Watson had two goals and two assists as the Kingston Frontenacs blanked the Ottawa 67’s 8-0. Matt Mahalak made 24 saves in the shutout. Ryan Kujawinski had two goals and an assist while Robert Polesello and Sam Bennett had a goal and two assists each in the win. Michael Moffat set up three goals while Henri Ikonen added two helpers in the win. Darcy Greenaway had a goal and an assist for Kingston. Sam Schutt also scored for Kingston. Philippe Trudeau made 24 saves for Ottawa in two periods of action while Jacob Blair played the third period, stopping 11 of 14 shots.

In Kitchener, Nick Magyar had two goals and an assist as the Kitchener Rangers doubled up the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds 6-3. Ryan MacInnis and Radek Faksa had a goal and an assist each for the Rangers while Darby Llewellyn set up a pair of goals. Brent Pedersen and Evan McEneny also scored for Kitchener. Alex Gudbranson had a goal and an assist for the Greyhounds while Darnell Nurse and Andrew Fritsch also scored. Matt Murray made 45 saves in the loss.

In North Bay, Daniel Gibl made 32 saves as the Barrie Colts blanked the North Bay Battalion 6-0. Brendan Lemieux scored a pair of goals while Tyson Fawcett had a goal and two assists for Barrie in the win. Jake Dotchin, Justin Scott and Erik Bradford also scored in the win. Andrew Mangiapane, Kevin Labanc, Dylan Corson and Jonathan Laser set up a pair of goals each for the Colts in the win. Brendan O’Neill stopped 11 of 14 shots before being pulled after the third Barrie goal. Jake Smith stopped 15 of 18 shots the rest of the way for North Bay.

In Sudbury, Connor Crisp scored at 4:36 of overtime to give the Sudbury Wolves a 4-3 win over the Niagara IceDogs. Nicholas Baptiste had two goals and an assist for Sudbury in the win while Mathew Campagna chipped in with a goal and an assist for the Wolves. Nathan Pancel set up a pair of goals. Sudbury goaltender Troy Timpano made 41 saves in the win. Brendan Perlini had a goal and an assist for the IceDogs.  Johnny Corneil and Jesse Graham also scored for Niagara. Carter Verhaeghe set up two goals in the loss.

In Oshawa, Slater Koekkoek had a goal and an assist as the Windsor Spitfires beat the Oshawa Generals 4-1. Ryan Moore, Ryan Foss and Nikita Yazkov also scored for Windsor in the win while goaltender Alex Fotinos stopped 19 shots in the win. Sam Harding had the lone goal for Oshawa in the loss. Generals goaltender Daniel Altshuller stopped 27 shots.
