In a letter to City Council that appears on the agenda for Monday's meeting, Ward 1 Councillor Steve Butland says the installation of flags from the 25 founding nations in Sault Ste. Marie was so successful that a decision was made to continue with more flags along Russ Ramsay Way.

The first 25 flags flutter along either side of the Waterfront Walkway in Clergue Park.

A committee was formed to figure out what other flags should be flown to reflect the Sault's growing multinational component.

"The rationale for the project is to celebrate the growing multicultural nature of our city with recognition of the changing social fabric of our community," wrote Butland in the letter.

The public is invited to attend the flag raising ceremony that will take place on Sunday, October 30, at 2 p.m. on Russ Ramsay Way in front of the Civic Centre.
