**************************** Local man fatally injured - Struck by falling tree

MEREDETH TWP - On Thursday, October 20, 2011 at approximately 10:45 a.m., a man was helping his neighbour with two trees that had fallen over on Cameron Road in Meredeth Township.

As the deceased and his neighbour were cutting the trees with chainsaws to remove them from the roadway, a third tree fell and struck both males.

OPP were called to the scene.

58-year-old Douglas Scott Brodie of Cameron Road, Meredeth Township, suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A 71-year-old male was transported to Sault Area Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

No foul play is suspected.
