A note about our Orazietti passport story

SooToday.com has heard today from the office of Sault MPP David Orazietti, that some readers are all befuddled and discombobulated over a Google ad that's appearing beneath our earlier story about an enhanced Ontario driver's licence that can substitute for passports at Canada-U.S. border crossings.

Orazietti's people want you to know that the "international driver’s license" mentioned in these ads is not provided by the provincial government and is in no way connected to the new licence being proposed by the province.

The new enhanced driver’s licence is an optional feature for those wishing to travel to the United States by land and sea.

It will only cost an additional $40 and will be valid for the same period as the regular driver’s license and will be recognized by the U.S. government.
