Special weather statement in effect for: Sault Ste. Marie - St. Joseph Island - Searchmont - Montreal River Harbour - Batchawana Bay

Significant rainfall today.

A low pressure system over Iowa will be tracking northeastward towards the Great Lakes today.

A broad area of rain ahead of the low will begin moving into Northeastern Ontario today and continue into early Thursday.

Rain could be heavy at times and may be accompanied by thunderstorms tonight.

General rainfall amounts in the 20 to 40 range are expected, but higher amounts may be possible locally.

A rainfall warning is in effect for areas northeast of Lake Superior where 50 mm or more of rain is expected within 24 hours.

Special Weather Statement for: Sault Ste. Marie - Superior East - Wawa - White River - Pukaskwa - Greater Sudbury and Vicinity - Chapleau - Gogama - Elliot Lake - Ranger Lake - Manitoulin - Blind River.

A low pressure system developing over the Southern Plains today will be tracking northeast towards the Great Lakes tonight. 

A broad area of rain ahead of the low will begin moving into northern Ontario Wednesday morning and continue into early Thursday. 

Although there is still some uncertainty in the exact track of the low, general rainfall amounts in the 30 to 60 mm range are expected for portions of northeastern Ontario and areas north of Superior. 

Rain could be heavy at times and higher amounts may be possible locally, particularly for areas where thunderstorms occur. 

A rainfall warning may be required for regions expected to receive 50 mm or more of rain within 24 hours.
