The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service will once again be participating in Police Week, which runs this year from May 13 to May 19 in Ontario.

Police Week is dedicated to increasing community prevention awareness and recognition of policing services in the community.

In holding this event the Police Service hopes to strengthen partnerships between police and the community.

The theme for Police Week this year is “Leading the Way for a Safer Tomorrow”.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service plays an essential role in preventing crime in Sault Ste. Marie.

We’re committed to ensuring a strong and positive relationship between the police and the community.

Police Week 2012 will be marked in Sault Ste. Marie and Prince Township with the traditional displays and opening ceremonies at the Station Mall.

The opening ceremonies will commence on Tuesday, May 15 at 11 a.m. in front of the food court.

Some of the agencies that will be participating in this year’s Police Week include the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, the Ontario Provincial Police, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Michigan State Police, the Canadian Border Services, the United States Immigration & Naturalization Service, Canadian Pacific Railway Police, Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services, the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services, Donald Doucet Youth Centre and the Ministry of Natural Resources.

Once again this year during Police Week, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, in partnership with the Station Mall and the Galaxy Theatre, will be providing information lectures to local Grades 6, 7, and 8 students focusing on bullying and Internet safety.

The lectures will take place Wednesday morning.

Help make our community a safe, strong and prosperous community.

Come out and support law enforcement and their supporting agencies during Police Week.
