Page program offers unique educational experience for Ontario students

SAULT STE. MARIE - David Orazietti, MPP recognizes Darren Yanni, a Grade 8 student from Notre Dame du Sault in Sault Ste. Marie for his service to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario through the Legislative Page Program.

“The Legislative Page Program at Queen’s Park gives Ontario students in Grades 7 and 8 the opportunity to learn about the Ontario government while gaining the unique experience of working in the Provincial Legislature,” said Orazietti. “Throughout his time at Queen’s Park, Darren has taken on a number of duties to support the daily activities MPPs and the Legislature, and I thank him for his commitment to his work as a page.”

"It was a pleasure to serve at the Legislature, as it was a fun and enjoyable learning experience,” said Darren Yanni. “I especially enjoyed having the chance to meet my local MPP while serving as a legislative page."

The Legislative Page Program is open to Ontario students in Grades 7 or 8 with a high level of academic achievement.

Pages work at the Legislative Assembly of Ontario for a term of two to four weeks and play an important role in the Legislature.

Pages act as messengers in the Legislative Chamber, meet with politicians and officials and gain a first-hand understanding of how laws are made and how the Province of Ontario is governed.
