Open air burning - suspensions

Over the course of this past weekend, Fire Services attended nine open air burning complaints, all regarding nuisance smoke affecting neighbours. 

Of these complaints, five were deemed legitimate, resulting in 90-day suspensions to the permit holders.
 
Fire Services would like to remind the public that, all open air burning requires approval.

Any individual found burning without approval or contrary to the conditions of the permit, are subject to a 90-day suspension and/or charges under the Fire Protection and Prevention Act.
