Rick Waite wants to start a new taxi company in Sault Ste. Marie and has asked the City's Police Services Board for seven licenses.

At a meeting Thursday, Police Services Chair (retired) Judge James Greco said this was a very important matter and he wanted to make sure all members of the board were present to hear it.

Over a dozen people interested in the issue showed up at the meeting and were told there would be a formal hearing at which they would have an opportunity to speak on the application.

"That will give everyone who wants to say something about that application the time to do so without feeling rushed," he said.

The hearing is tentatively set for Wednesday, April 11 at 9:30 a.m. in the Donald Doucet Training Room but interested parties are being asked to check Sault Ste. Marie Police Service's website to confirm that date and time.
