Two weeks down, two to go in the VM Radio Battle of the Bands presented by Tidal Records at the Canadian Night Club.

Last night's showcase featured Mannapool, The Danger Cats, Haggith and Stereo North as they faced off to determine which will join last week's winner, The Bear Hunters, in the final showdown.

When the scores were tallied, only eight points separated first and fourth place as Mannapool edged out the rest of the contenders for a spot in the closing event on March 25.

Mannapool's frontman Josh Ingram told SooToday that the band looks forward to performing more in 2015 as he and bandmates Korey DeLuca, Michael Dempster, and Daniel Kreutzweiser work on original content.

The boys are currently recording at DeLuca Sound Production and will have an album of prog rock goodness set for release in the near future.

"They say Canada is a melting pot. Prog rock is kind of the melting pot of music. It's where we all feel comfortable," Ingram said.

To prepare for the final round, the band plans on performing some new material to keep fans on their toes.

"There's a lot of stiff competition here and a lot of great talent in Sault Ste. Marie that's being cultivated by some of great organizations."

Presented in collaboration with VM Radio and Tidal Records, this first annual Battle of the Bands happens every Wednesday evening in March and is a licensed all-ages event.

Upcoming performances include those from:

Wednesday, March 18

Project 421
Gnaeus
The Apocalypse Afterparty
Mike Haggith and the Din

Wednesday, March 25

The final battle, featuring The Bear Hunters, Mannapool, the winner from March 18, and a fan favourite wild card.
