12 bands. 4 nights. 1 epic battle

The Sault's own Tidal Records and VM Radio have teamed up to present a month-long event featuring live local musical talent.

The Sault's own Tidal Records and VM Radio have teamed up to present a month-long event featuring live local musical talent.

Every Wednesday evening in March, the VM Radio Battle of the Bands will see four acts fight it out for great prize packages, including recording time, instrument bundles and cold hard cash.

The licensed all-ages event will run from 8 p.m. to midnight at the Canadian Night Club (410 Pim Street) starting this Wednesday, March 4.

Prizes will be awarded in the following categories: Best Overall Band, Best Original Song, Best Drummer, Best Bass Player, Best Guitar Player, Best Vocal Performance, Most Energetic Band, Fan Favourite, and Most Enthusiastic Fan.

Performances will be carefully judged by Rob Speers (Village Media, VM Radio), Rob Figures (The Sault Metal Scene), and Dustin Jones (Tidal Records, Mission Control Studio).

"Not a lot of bands roll through town in the winter, so we wanted to give some local up-and-coming acts the opportunity to get out there and get some feedback from industry professionals," said Event Manager Johnny Pints. "All of the sponsors kicked in huge to make sure there are wicked prizes and we plan to expand across Northern Ontario for the battle next year."

The weekly performance line up goes as follows:

Wednesday, March 4

Honest Job
The Bear Hunters
Infamous
Special guest performance by Tidal Records recording artists The Pixo Control

Wednesday, March 11

Stereo North
Mannapool
Haggith
The Danger Cats

Wednesday, March 18

Project 421
Gnaeus
The Apocalypse Afterparty
Mike Haggith and the Din

Wednesday, March 25

The final battle, including one winner from each week and a fan favourite wild card.

This event is made possible thanks to support from VM Radio, Tidal Records, Mission Control Studio, Case's Music, Right Hook Mics, The Rad Zone, The Sault Metal Scene, Maxx Graphix, Budweiser, and Bomb Energy Drink.
