Peacefully at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at the age of 74.

Survived by his wife Mara Celmins his son Simon, daughter Silvie, grandson Zaeden and granddaughters Raelynn and Maija Mae. Philip was a man of many talents: singer, guitarist, fisherman, golfer and jewelry maker. In his youth Philip was the lead singer for a band called The Establishment. They toured the southern United States and were the opening act for bands like the Animals and Canned Heat. Philip once sang a duet with John Denver, "Leaving on a jet plane". For a couple of years Philip was on the Pro Bass Fishing circuit. Although an avid fisherman, Philip did not eat fish but he did generously share his catch with others. Philip's primary job was a social worker he worked with troubled teens in group homes and with the homeless. Some of his clients called him Dr. Phil. Upon retirement Philip polished the rocks that he collected at camp (Red Rock) for the past 30 years and made jewelry. Philip will be missed by his family, friends and his faithful dog Lily. The fishin' musician has left the building.

A private celebration of life at a later date. Memorial contributions (online or by cheque) to Harvest Algoma would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street E. 705-759-2522). Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be share at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the family.
